Luca Barrington struck inside the opening minute with a neat low finish, though Salford responded through Cole Stockton to level the contest.

The Mariners claimed their first victory of the 2023/24 campaign with an assured display under the lights, as Abo Eisa netted twice to down Salford City at Blundell Park.
Town had taken the lead in the first half when Kamil Conteh won possession high up the pitch and found Eisa, whose strike from the left took a deflection and nestled into the bottom corner. The hosts controlled proceedings with their high-energy pressing, limiting the Ammies to few clear opportunities before the break.
Early in the second half, the visitors were reduced to ten men when Ossama Ashley was dismissed for a second bookable offence, and the Mariners capitalised on their advantage just after the hour mark. Following a scramble in the penalty area, Eisa reacted quickest to fire low into the corner for his second of the night.
Jake Eastwood preserved the clean sheet with a fine late save from a Stephen Mallan free-kick, ensuring a comfortable and deserved victory for Paul Hurst’s side.

The Mariners began a new decade with a long-awaited return to winning ways on home soil.
In an evenly matched contest, chances came at both ends before substitute Ahkeem Rose made the decisive contribution six minutes from time.
After a driving run from Charles Vernam, Rose turned and fired a low shot into the bottom corner to seal all three points and spark celebrations around Blundell Park.
