Joe Gibbs Racing shares astonishing cost of NASCAR crashes in disastrous race

The price of NASCAR damage has been laid bare by Joe Gibbs Racing after a social media video revealed the breakdown of the costs of a crash.
Part of what makes racing so thrilling is the fact that any drive could be ruined by contact, altering the outcome in a matter of seconds. It can also lead to a team having to fork out substantial sums to repair the vehicles in question, as Joe Gibbs Racing did after the Autotrader 400 at EchoPark Speedway.
While Reddick came out on top in Atlanta, JGR left EchoPark celebrating a P2 finish by No.19 Chase Briscoe. However, they also came away from the race with plenty of damage sustained over the weekend.
A video on social media from Prime Video detailed the extensive damage to JGR’s Cup Series cars and their associated costs. Denny Hamlin’s brush with a wall that sent him spinning out cost the team a whopping $33,500.
Then, another clip, which saw Christopher Bell’s No. 20 contacted, initially showed the cost of repairs at $3,150, only for him to then collide with the wall, bumping the price up to an astonishing $73,000.
The exact same thing also happened to Ty Gibbs’ No.54. The intial contact would have seen JGR only have to pay $1,270 in repairs, only for him to then crash into the wall, resulting in a huge damage cost of $98,250.
And then at the end of the video, they showed Briscoe’s P2 finish, which they said cost them nothing in damages.
NASCAR returns this weekend to the site of the 2025 Championship Race, with Hamlin set to race at the circuit that left him heartbroken just four months ago.
Hamlin had been in the running to win the first NASCAR Championship title of his career having led for the majority of the race, only for a late caution allowing for him to be passed by Kyle Larson, who won in Phoenix.
