Chicago weather forecast for Friday includes dense fog with chance for severe storms bringing high winds, hail threat

CHICAGO (WLS) — The Chicago weather forecast Friday begins with heavy fog and contains chances for severe storms.

Friday begins again with heavy fog. A Dense Fog Advisory will be in effect for the area until 10 a.m.

ABC7 Accuweather Meteorologist Tracy Butler says there is also chances for rain and storms.

Much of the Chicago area is under a Level 1 severe threat, but some south, west and north suburbs are under a Level 2 risk of severe weather.

There is a chance for rain for the far west and northwest parts of the area after 7 a.m. Butler said the rain may hold off in the city until about 10 a.m., but it will still be misty.

A separate line of storms is possible in the mid to late afternoon, with potential to bring large hail and strong winds.

Overnight into early Saturday morning, another line of storms is expected to move through, bringing potential for strong winds.

The rain is expected to end by between 7-8 a.m. and the warmed part of the day with temperatures falling in the afternoon.
