The annual St. Patrick’s Day parade for metro Atlanta is scheduled for March 14 this year. There will be more than 100 entries in this year’s parade.
Fox – 5 Atlanta
Whether you have some Irish ancestry or you just enjoy the frivolity, St. Patrick’s Day means fun.
The Irish began observing St. Patrick’s Day, which lands on Tuesday, March 17, for more than 1,000 years. Here in the U.S., cities nationwide host parades and festivals to celebrate the holiday – a practice that began hundreds of years ago, according to History.com. Restaurants and bars have special St. Patrick’s Day food and drinks – yes, of course, there’s green beer.
Fewer than 10% of the U.S. population has Irish ancestry, according to the U.S. Census. But that doesn’t stop folks from celebrating.
More than one-third of consumers (36%) plan to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, according to research firm Numerator, which surveyed more than 5,300 U.S. consumers in January 2026. The top intended purchases are food (61%), alcoholic beverages (48%), and decorations (35%).Beer is the favored alcoholic beverage for St. Patrick’s Day drinkers (58%), with Irish beers such as Guinness or Smithwick’s favored by 44%, according to Numerator.
If you’re planning to celebrate, here are some deals and specials for the holiday.
