JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST ― An unidentified incident has triggered an elevated terrorist alert on the military base, according to a social media post from authorities on site.
Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst said in the post on Facebook on Tuesday afternoon that it had raised its alert level to what is called FPCON CHARLIE, which means that an incident is occurring or intelligence has been received indicating some form of terrorist action targeting personnel or facilities is likely according to the Defense Logistics Agency.
The base said increased security measures were in place.
“All personnel should remain vigilant, follow the direction of security forces, and report any suspicious activity immediately,” the post said. “We appreciate your cooperation as we prioritize the safety and security of our installation.”
