Health Canada has announced a recall for a brand of retractable baby gates for being what they described as an “entrapment hazard.”
“The recalled gates can allow a child’s torso to fit through the opening between the gate and the floor, posing a risk of serious injury due to entrapment,” the recall notice posted on Friday said.
The recall involves Vevor Retractable Baby Gate products in colours black, gray and white. The recalled products are 34.2 inches (87 cm) high and have a retractable screen that extends up to 60 inches (152 cm) wide, 76.8 inches (193 cm) wide or 116 inches (295 cm) wide.

“‘Vevor’ is printed on a label on the corner post of the gate,” the notice added. “The model number is printed on the product packaging and in the user manual.”
A total of 1,660 units of the affected gates were sold in Canada between November 2023 and March 2026, the company reported.
There have been no reports of incidents or injuries as of March 13.
The health agency has advised customers to “immediately stop using” Vevor Retractable Baby Gate products and contact the company for a full refund.
Customers are also advised to “destroy” the gate by cutting through the mesh and sending a photograph of it to [email protected].
