Penguins’ Sidney Crosby Injured vs. Senators

KANATA, Ontario — Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby suffered another Thursday in the first period against the Ottawa Senators.

He completed his full complement of shifts in the opening period but went to the dressing room with just under three minutes to go. It appeared he tangled with Ottawa forward Nick Cousins, suffering a lower-body injury—perhaps a left leg or ankle injury. He went to the room shortly after the sequence, but did not have a pronounced gate or limp.

Crosby took the opening faceoff of the second period, but that was the end of his evening and the Penguins announced he would not return.

Thursday was Crosby’s fifth game back in the Penguins lineup after suffering a torn MCL in his right knee in February’s Olympic Games.

The Penguins ended the first period tied 1-1 with Ottawa. Coach Dan Muse put rookie Ben Kindel in Crosby’s spot.
