Crimson Desert Main Development Team Moves to Next Title

Pearl Abyss has announced that the Crimson Desert main development team has moved to their next game, DokeV.

Crimson Desert has been performing really well since its release, with the title recently selling through 3 million copies. The reviews seem to have recovered as well following the game’s first update. Now, the developers are back to the drawing board, working on their next release, which was announced at the same time as Crimson Desert.

Crimson Desert’s Main Team is Now Working on DokeV

According to a report by the South Korean publication INVEN (via GameSpark), the developers of Crimson Desert discussed their upcoming game at a recent shareholder meeting. Pearl Abyss CEO Heo Jin-young explained that they announced three new titles in 2019, and the development process has taken time because they have been working on both the game and the engine simultaneously.

Both games are being developed using the same engine, called Blackspace, with Crimson Desert being the first title to utilize this new technology. The DokeV team was working on “graphic asset production and other tasks in parallel” (Google translation). Still, Crimson Desert required more time than they expected, hence the core development team stayed on the game.

However, now that the game has been released, the main development team for Crimson Desert can focus on DokeV, which will help speed things up. The Ceo also revealed that they estimate “it will take about two to three years from the current timeline to completion and polishing.”

In other news, Pearl Abyss has made Crimson Desert easier in many ways, releasing a massive patch that contains countless fixes. Additionally, Pearl Abyss has taken to social media to apologize for the recent Crimson Desert AI art scandal that rocked the community.
