There will be 14 teams in the Women’s Super League next season, up from the existing 12.
The top two in WSL 2 will be promoted, while the team that comes third will play against the WSL bottom-placed side in a play-off to decide the final spot.
Charlton Athletic are currently top of WSL 2 and they will clinch promotion today if they win a south London derby at third-placed Crystal Palace.
Birmingham City are second, with Palace, Newcastle, Bristol City and Southampton still in contention.
There are currently five London teams in the WSL already – Arsenal, Chelsea, London City Lionesses, Tottenham, West Ham – and there could be seven of 14 from the capital next season if the Hammers stay up and both Charlton and Palace go up.
