No one injured after train derailment in St. Catharines, official says

No one is injured after a CN train derailed in St. Catharines Monday morning.
A Niagara Regional Police spokesperson tells CHCH News that the derailment happened east of Glendale Avenue.
A CN Rail official says there are a number of derailed rail cars in various positions.
“A non-dangerous good called polyethylene, a product used in the manufacturing of household plastics, spilled from one of the railcars,” says Michelle Hannan, a media relations advisor with CN Rail. “There is no danger to the public.”

Crews have removed the railcars from the Glendale Avenue crossing, allowing traffic to flow again.
“CN would like to apologize for the inconveniences caused by this incident,” Hannan says.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
