UFC flyweight hit with 12-month suspension for failed drug test, victory overturned

A UFC flyweight will be out of action for several months.
Combat Sports Anti-Doping, the UFC’s independent drug testing agency, announced that Alibi Idiris has accepted a one-year suspension for using a banned substance. Idiris tested positive for hydrochlorothiazide — a diuretic that’s “prohibited at all times” in the Diuretics and Masking Agents class of the UFC’s prohibited list.
The sample was collected on Feb. 21, the same day as his unanimous decision victory over Ode Osbourne at UFC Houston. Additionally, the result has been overturned to a No Contest by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
According to CSAD, Idiris admitted to using hydrochlorothiazide after he was notified of the flagging to help him with making weight for the bout with Osbourne. Despite his cooperation, CSAD went through with the 12-month ban due to the “seriousness of knowingly using a diuretic during fight week and the advantage that he received in making his contracted weight.”
Idiris, a competitor on season 33 of The Ultimate Fighter, is eligible to return on Feb. 21, 2027.
