Hendon Hooker, former Vols QB, returning to Tennessee in deal with Titans

All roads have led back to Tennessee for former Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker.
The Tennessee Titans are adding Hooker on a free agent deal, a source confirmed to The Tennessean. Hooker, a former Detroit Lions draft pick in 2023, has bounced between Detroit, Carolina and the New York Jets in his brief NFL career. He appeared in three games in 2024, attempting nine total passes.
Hooker was the SEC Offensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-SEC passer in 2022 with the Vols, throwing for 3,135 yards and 27 touchdowns with only two interceptions. He posted a 9-2 record as a starter that season before an injury prematurely ended his season.
The Titans quarterback room is led by former No. 1 pick Cam Ward heading into his second season. The Titans also added former top pick Mitchell Trubisky as a backup through free agency. Hooker’s 2023 NFL Draft compatriot and former SEC rival Will Levis is the other quarterback in the Titans’ room.
