Vatira Pleads for Rocket League Bot Fixes After Epic Games Layoffs
Rocket League superstar Axel ‘Vatira’ Touret has unleashed another scathing rant about the game’s ongoing issue with bots and DDoS attacks.
The Karmine Corp pro previously ranted about this same issue back in November 2025, proclaiming “Rocket League is dead” as the issues began to even impact Rocket League’s RLCS esports LAN qualification.
The developers promised that these issues were being addressed, but recently Epic Games laid off 1,000 staff members in budget cuts, including significant employees from Rocket League developers Psyonix.
Those layoffs led to the shutdown of multiple Epic titles, including Rocket League spinoff Rocket Racing, and Vatira claims the ‘soccar’ game could soon suffer the same fate.
Vatira Calls For Action On Rocket League DDoS Attacks
In a lengthy post on his social media, Vatira described the current state of Rocket League as “dire” and explained how the esports scene is being affected:
“We’ve had to create Discord servers just to try to play competitively, but it’s not a miracle solution. It’s complicated to manage, not easy to access, and obviously we can’t gather players from all over the world.”
Bots and DDoS attackers are ruining the quality of ranked matches, with the latter forcing players to disconnect and give automatic wins to these cheaters who are rapidly climbing ranks.
“The problem is that the overall player skill level is declining and our playtime is being cut in half or even by three,” Vatira added before pleading: “Epic Games, do something right now.”

Vatira claims fewer people are watching Rocket League now, with content creators losing audiences and possibly their livelihoods. Yet, he maintains that there is still a strong interest in the esport because of how easy the game is to understand and the skill level of current pros.
Psyonix Respond to Vatira
Rocket League product manager of Pysonix and Epic Games, Murty Shah, has since responded to Vatira’s outburst.
The former Rocket League esports manager insisted that solving the bots issue is a top priority for the developers:
“Confirming I’ve seen this and that it’s top of mind for us. We’re actively working to get more anti-botting measures in ASAP, alongside the upcoming release of Easy Anti-Cheat, to make sure you guys can play without any disruptions.

“We absolutely cannot have bots impacting your practice for the RLCS. In the meantime, if you run into any bots, please keep reporting them in the Discord. We’re getting more support in there now to monitor your reports and are continuously running ban waves.”
Vatira then gave a reply of his own, remaining sceptical that progress will be made:
“I appreciate the response, but the fact remains that we’ve been seeing the same pattern for months, if not years.”
“Nothing against you, obviously, Scheist. I believe we all want Rocket League to be the best game ever,” he added.

In the meantime, the esports scene is going strong with teams preparing for the Rocket League Esports World Cup 2026 tournament.
