A special weather bulletin has been issued for Red Deer, by Environment and Climate Change Canada.
Poor road conditions are expected tonight, overnight, and into Thursday.
Per ECCC:
“Heavy snow will begin falling overnight Wednesday into Thursday across central Alberta, including along Highway 2 and portions of Highway 1, particularly west and around Calgary. Heavy snow accumulations at times could reduce visibility and cause rapidly changing road conditions. Conditions are expected to improve by Thursday evening. The total snowfall accumulation remains uncertain, but some areas could receive 5 to 20 cm. Near-freezing temperatures on Thursday may limit snow accumulation. Please allow extra time for your travels and be prepared for changing road conditions. With temperatures expected to rise over the weekend, any snow that falls will likely melt quickly, improving road conditions over the long weekend. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.”
