The surprisingly exotic location Channel 5’s The Teacher was filmed at

The third instalment of the explosive school series, The Teacher, has arrived: brand-new episodes are streaming now on Channel 5 (see the full episode schedule here).
Starring the iconic Victoria Hamilton, the four-part series follows “intense warfare” between teacher and student, which leads to shocking and tragic consequences…
The drama obviously revolves around a school setting – but we can reveal it was not actually filmed in a school at all, and the destination of the filmset is…surprising (it’s not in the UK).
Where was The Teacher Series 3 filmed?
As it turns out, a lot of the filming for The Teacher Series 3 was done in northern Spain.
While the exterior of the school, Cheetham Hall, was actually a hotel in Hertfordshire, all of the inside classroom scenes were filmed in Vitoria-Gasteiz – a charming city in the north of Spain.

Steve Edge, who plays the lead teacher Helen’s husband, described the spot as “a very Spanish place with very few tourists”.
The cast spent two months filming in the capital of the Basque Country – a region known for its rugged, rustic landscapes.
Rochenda Sandall, who plays fellow teacher Tessa Stewart, said “We were out there for two months…so all of the Basque Country was available to us, it was amazing.”
She explained that the school was actually “an old church that was recommissioned and converted into an art college”.
“It didn’t really look anything like my school!” she joked.
