Now we know that undisputed heavyweight champion Claressa Shields definitely is in town to cast an eye over Lauren Price.
The pair were caught in a social media war of words earlier this year and Shields, who is a five-weight world champion and has reigned undisputed in three of those, is running out of opponents, but Wales’ Price is regarded as someone who could offer a serious challenge.
Boxxer chief Ben Shalom, who promotes Price, believes his fighter can become the first woman to beat American Shields.
“We don’t believe the weight difference will stop that fight,” said Shalom.
“Lauren wants Claressa Shields. She wants the biggest name in women’s boxing and Claressa is that. That’s why we want to make it.
“We believe Lauren is the best female on the planet. I believe she is the only fighter that could come close to Claressa.”
