Attempted murder suspect arrested after leading CHP on hourslong chase across several Southern California counties
An attempted murder suspect was arrested on Sunday night after leading law enforcement on a lengthy chase across multiple Southern California counties.
The chase began on Sunday evening in Ventura County. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said it began as an attempted traffic stop, but the driver took off, and the chase was passed off to California Highway Patrol.
During the chase, the driver reportedly called dispatch, and after speaking to law enforcement, officials learned the suspect is wanted in connection to an attempted murder investigation.
The chase stretched from Ventura County, across multiple communities in the San Fernando Valley along the 134 Freeway, and into the San Gabriel Valley on the 210 Freeway.
The driver then continued on the 210 Freeway all the way into San Bernardino County before eventually moving to the 215 Freeway northbound.
After multiple failed spike strips, it appeared the fourth attempt by CHP was successful. AIR7 video shows the driver’s-side front-left tire flying off the suspect’s Subaru SUV.
The suspect drove well over 150 miles, eventually entering Victorville on the 15 Freeway, before AIR7 had to leave to refuel.
The chase finally came to an end around 8:30 p.m. when CHP performed a successful PIT maneuver on the northbound 15 Freeway in Barstow, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
