Grosse Pointe North grad Jamie Ding now in top 10 for ‘Jeopardy!’ wins

Metro Detroit native Jamie Ding has notched his 16th straight “Jeopardy!” win and reached the gameshow’s top 10 list of contestants with the most wins.
A 2009 graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School who now lives in New Jersey, Ding earned $34,401 on the show’s Friday, April 3, episode, which brought his total earnings to $462,401.
The win also placed him in a three-way tie for ninth place in Jeopardy! history for players with the most consecutive wins, according to The Jeopardy Fan database.
No. 1. on that list is Ken Jennings — now the host of the gameshow — who had 74 consecutive wins in 2004.
After high school, Ding went on to graduate from Princeton University and now resides in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, where he works as an administrator with the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, according to his LinkedIn profile.
His father is Yuchuan Ding, a professor of neurosurgery at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, and his mother is a recently retired math teacher.
Ding recently thanked his parents for having always supported him and his love of learning.
Ding has answered 516 questions right and 34 wrong since his debut on the March 13 show, according to The Jeopardy Fan database.
New Jeopardy! episodes air weekdays at 7:30 p.m. on WDIV-TV (Channel 4).
