ITV Emmerdale star supported as he shares heartbreaking loss days before wedding

The soap star is set to tie the knot with his partner Scott Johnston this month

Emmerdale star Bradley Riches has been supported by fans as he shared a heartbreaking loss. The soap star arrived in the fictional Yorkshire village last year as the younger brother of Ross Barton (Michael Parr), and soon became a hit with fans. The 24-year-old recently took to social media to share the death of a family member.

Bradley arrived on screen as Lewis Barton in May last year. He regularly shares aspects of his life away from the cameras to his 620,000 followers on Instagram.

In a recent post, Bradley announced the death of his great “nanny”. Sharing a photo of himself as a young boy sat beside his grandma, the actor said: “Never did I think I would be saying goodbye to my Gt. Nanny just days before my wedding. Before my she passed, she told me she’d be with me on my big day… and I know she will be.

“She loved Scott so much- never questioned us, just loved us fully. I will miss you every day. See ya later love you xxx.”

Bradley’s friends and co-stars rushed to the comments to send their support after the heartbreaking news.

Amelia Flanagan, who plays April Windsor on Emmerdale, said: “Sending lots of love Brad.”

Beth Cordingly, who stars as Ruby Fox-Miligan on the ITV soap, also added some kind words. She wrote: “Oh darling. I’m so sorry. That’s so sad. She looks and sounds absolutely gorgeous. She’ll be there. Look for the shaft of sunlight on the day.”

Laura Norton (Kerry Wyatt) said: “Oh Brad [heartbroken emoji].”

Coronation Street star Cait Fitton, who plays Lauren Bolton, also offered her support. She said: “Sending you so much love angel.”

Channique Sterling Brown, who departed her role on the cobbles as Dee-Dee Bailey last year, said: “So sorry to hear this Brad and sending so much love for your big day.”

Bradley said goodbye to his great grandma just days before he is due to get married. The soap star got engaged to his partner, Scott Johnston in a stunning trip to Sorrento, Italy in April 2024.

The actor announced the news on Instagram, sharing a photo of the couple surrounded by a love heart made up of red rose petals. He wrote at the time: “08/04/2024 Erm…YES!

“I never thought I’d find someone who’s gets me and loves me for me. I have always struggled connecting my emotions in relationships and then @scottjohnston1.8 came. I felt safe and accepted and most importantly loved. I love you endlessly.”

Bradley, who is also known for his role as James McEwan in the his Netflix series Heartstopper, recently released his own book. “Autistically Me: How to Understand and Celebrate our Unique Minds” was released earlier this year and focusses in his experience of neurodiversity and autism.
