Boxing legend Tyson Fury will make his comeback to the ring this weekend in his latest return after announcing his retirement.

Fury, 37, most recently called time on his career in January 2025 after a second consecutive loss to Ukrainian hero Oleksandr Usyk. The former two-time heavyweight world champion will take on hard-hitting Russian star Arslanbek Makhmudov on Saturday night in London.

The Brit insists he is still capable of competing against some of the big names and a victory over Makhmudov could even set him up for a showdown with fellow British heavyweight Anthony Joshua. With Tyson now generating headlines once again, Wales Online takes a closer look at his personal life, from his previous split with wife, Paris, his net worth and his huge extended family.

Tyson Fury has come out of retirement to face Russian boxer Arslanbek Makhmudov in a heavyweight clash in London on April 11. The fight will stream live on Netflix, which fans can get for free with Sky’s £15 Essential TV bundle or £24 Ultimate TV bundle, the latter of which also includes HBO Max and Disney+.

Why did Tyson Fury and Paris split?

Tyson and Paris have been happily married for 18 years after meeting as teenagers. However, their nuptials almost never happened. In her 2021 memoir, Love and Fury, Paris shockingly revealed how the couple fought over their wedding date and subsequently ended their romance.

While Paris wanted a November wedding, their “schedule was thrown into the air” when Tyson failed to secure his spot at the Olympics and so wished to bring the event forward. “My fiancé clearly didn’t understand the amount of planning and organisation that went into a wedding,” Paris wrote.

“I was beginning to realise how incredibly impulsive he was, the sort of person who lived life in the moment and liked to make decisions on the hoof. In Tyson’s world, our big day could be rescheduled on a whim, just like one of his boxing matches. I was having none of it, though, and refused point-blank to change the date.

“As tensions simmered between us, I soon found myself reaching breaking point. It was one conflict after another and after an ugly slanging match with him outside mam’s house, I decided to call time on the wedding and our relationship.

“He thought I was joking and when I dropped the big bombshell, then he realised I was deadly serious. I simply couldn’t take any more, I told him. As far as I was concerned, we were done. Our courtship was over.” After six months apart, Tyson reached out.

Paris recalled: “He sent me an emotionally-charged text. He told me he couldn’t believe I’d abandoned our relationship so easily, and he couldn’t bear the thought of me meeting somebody else.”

Tyson continued his attempts to win Paris back, finally succeeding when the pair crossed paths again. Finally, in November 2008, they tied the knot at St Peter-In-Chains Roman Catholic Church in Doncaster in front of friends and family.

Who’s in the Fury family?

The Fury family are one of boxing’s mega dynasties. Tyson and Paris have seven children: Venezuela, 16, Prince John James, 13, Prince Tyson II, eight, Valencia, six, Prince Adonis Amaziah, five, Athena, three, and Prince Rico, two.

The family gave fans a glimpse into their life in the 2023 Netflix series At Home with the Furys, which showcased several other members of their clan. Former Love Island star and boxer Tommy is Tyson’s half-brother and the son of John Fury.

The pair are two of John’s five children, with half-siblings Shane and Roman, also boxers. Shane and Roman are often spotted at major boxing events supporting Tyson.

Tyson’s cousin, Hughie Fury, has also made a name for himself as a boxer. While Peter Fury, Tyson’s uncle, might be a familiar name to those recalling Tyson’s earlier days when he helped coach ‘The Gypsy King’, notably during the triumph over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.

What is Tyson Fury’s net worth?

Tyson is estimated to have a net worth of around £120million. However, to date, he has earned at least £188m in upfront paydays and pay-per-view bonuses.

A significant portion of his wealth comes from his 2024 fights, including a reported £81.2m for the first Usyk bout and £40m for his clash with Francis Ngannou.

Tyson Fury Ltd, which manages his boxing and commercial activities, doubled its assets from roughly £82m in 2023 to over £161m in 2024.

Despite the company’s eye-watering value, Fury paid himself a modest salary/dividend of roughly £100,000 that year. He also earns additional income through his Netflix series At Home with the Furys, books, and his energy drink brand, Furocity.

Fury will face Makhmudov on Saturday in a 12-round bout in London at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the fight live on Netflix. The main card is set to get underway at 7pm, with Fury expected to make his ring walk around 10:30pm.
