IPL 2026: Mayank Rawat – All you need to know about MI debutant vs PBKS

Mayank Rawat, a Delhi-based all-rounder, earned his place in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after years of perseverance within the domestic circuit. Now, on April 16, he made her IPL debut for MI against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing season at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
He started his cricketing journey in Delhi under coach Rajesh Nagar, who has guided him since 2011. Coming through a structured grassroots system, Rawat trained regularly across school and academy levels, benefiting from strong backing during his early development.
Rawat showed promise early in age-group cricket, including a 220-run knock against Haryana at the Under-14 level, followed by another impressive innings of 244. However, despite these performances, he did not receive consistent opportunities and went through a phase of limited chances and inconsistent form. During this time, he stayed focused on refining his skills and developing his all-round abilities.
His comeback was driven by solid performances in domestic tournaments, especially the Delhi Premier League, where he regained attention and caught the eye of IPL scouts.
Recognised for his discipline and resilience, Rawat joined Mumbai Indians after being picked at his base price of INR 30 lakhs. He has already shared the dressing room with some of India’s top players, offering him a platform to learn, develop, and establish himself at the highest level of franchise cricket.
