Roman Reigns: ‘I don’t belong in the WWE anymore’ if I lose to CM Punk at WrestleMania

Earlier today, WWE uploaded the following video where Roman Reigns sits down with Michael Cole for an interview to discuss his main event match against World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk this Sunday (Apr. 19) at night two of WrestleMania 42.

The interview ends with Cole asking the Tribal Chief two related questions. First, what happens if Roman wins the world championship from Punk at WrestleMania?

“I bring this place back to relevancy. I reset the standard. I already set the standard. It got screwed up. Somebody got to come in and re-fix it, and that’s what I would do.”

The final question, naturally, is what happens if Roman loses against CM at WrestleMania?

“If I lose to CM Punk at WrestleMania, I don’t belong in the WWE anymore. I think if I were to lose on Sunday, I’d say my work is done.”

One of the reasons why Roman feels this way is because he worked his ass off for over a decade to elevate WWE to a place where it doesn’t need nostalgia acts like CM Punk, John Cena, or The Rock anymore. If Roman can’t get the job done against old man Punk and reset the standard again (which I guess Cody Rhodes screwed up over the last two years), then maybe it really is time for Reigns to pack it up and go home for good.

How does Roman Reigns teasing his WWE exit like this change your thoughts on who will walk out of WrestleMania Sunday as the world heavyweight champion? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
