Ground stop issued for Phoenix Sky Harbor

PHOENIX — A ground stop was issued for departures headed to Phoenix Sky Harbor on Sunday morning.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the ground stop was issued at 8:15 a.m. MST due to low visibility and weather.

It was expected to last until 10 a.m. and was listed as having a medium probability of being extended.

In addition, departures leaving Sky Harbor had an average delay time of 15 minutes, which was said to be increasing.

The National Weather Service in Phoenix warned that winds were expected to reach up to 25 to 30 mph in the Valley due to “high pressure over the Southern Plains.”
