Jamie Ding, the former Grosse Pointer who is on a five-plus-week run as “Jeopardy!” champion, collected yet another victory on Monday’s episode.
Ding has now won more than three-quarters of a million dollars during his 27-game winning streak.
How much has he won?
Ding added another $21,000 to his winnings in Monday’s show.
Caleb Phillips, an account manager from Austin, Texas, was runner-up with $10,000. Caroline Coughlin, an economic researcher from Somerville, Massachusetts, finished third with no money.
Ding now has a 27-day total of $753,000 in total prize money, putting him fifth in terms of all-time winnings on the show, according to The Jeopardy! Fan, an online database of “Jeopardy!” statistics.
What’s next?
Ding needs six more wins to pass James Holzhauer for fourth most all-time.
Current host Ken Jennings is the winningest “Jeopardy!” contestant ever, with 74 victories in 2004, earning him more than $2.5 million. Jennings recently joked that if Ding winds up winning a 75th straight game, he’ll automatically take his place as host.
“Yes, that’s what happens if you hit Game No. 75, a trap door opens beneath me and I disappear,” Jennings said in a social clip posted by “Jeopardy!” on Friday.
Ding will go for win No. 28 on Tuesday’s episode. In Detroit, “Jeopardy!” airs on WDIV-TV (Channel 4) at 7:30 p.m. The show also streams on Hulu and Peacock.
