New Brunswick RCMP now say a man’s death in the Minto area of Grand Lake that they initially treated as suspicious is not believed to be criminal.
Police were called around 6:20 a.m. about a sudden death on Park Street in a downtown Minto neighbourhood, RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Hans Ouellette said in an email Tuesday.
At the scene, police found a 59-year-old Minto man “deceased outside the residence,” Ouellette said.
The statement did not say if the residence was the man’s own home.
Initially Ouellette had said police were “treating the death as suspicious in nature” in an email statement at noon on Tuesday.
But in a subsequent email statement at 3:30 p.m., Oullette said that following an autopsy, “police do not believe that criminality was involved in the man’s death.”
The statement did not identify the man or say what the cause of death was.
