Benidorm has established itself as a beloved getaway spot amongst British holidaymakers. Indeed, roughly 800,000 to 900,000 Britons flock to this Spanish resort annually, constituting the largest overseas visitor group to the destination. This coastal gem on Spain’s Costa Blanca has earned the nickname “Spanish Las Vegas” due to its countless pubs, nightclubs, and entertainment venues, predominantly clustered around the Levante district and Calle Gerona.

The resort welcomes an incredibly varied mix of visitors that changes dramatically depending on the time of year and particular neighbourhood. While it’s famously synonymous with British “sun and sea” holidaymakers, it also draws substantial numbers of Spanish residents and pensioners.

Tourist Mattie Powell, hailing from North Wales, recently documented his Benidorm getaway, describing it as ‘everything you expect and more’ upon gazing from his hotel room.

Mattie posted footage on his Instagram account capturing a “traffic jam of mobility scooters” along a Benidorm walkway.

He wrote alongside it: “Traffic jam of mobility scooters was not on my 2026 bingo card.”

Mobility scooter users are frequently drawn to Benidorm as the resort boasts remarkably level terrain and excellent accessibility, especially along its extensive seafront walkways. This creates a unique holiday environment where individuals with mobility challenges can travel independently across considerable distances.

The clip proved hugely popular with viewers, accumulating over 105,000 likes.

One commenter quipped: “City’s safe in their hands.” While another jested: “Might go there and do some British spotting.”

This post follows a recent incident where an American holidaymaker in Benidorm was left baffled by one particular aspect.

The posts comes after those in Benidorm recently celebrated the return of warm weather.

Only weeks earlier, the Spanish hotspot was battered with torrential rain and chilly weather, causing disappointment among visitors hoping for some sun. However, things have taken a turn for the better.

With temperatures sitting between 20 and 25 degrees as of mid-April, the resort is back to its usual sunny self as it heads towards the busy summer season.
