Friday’s calm gives way to a soggy Saturday

Looking ahead to another beautiful day today across central New York with only a very isolated chance of any rain showers.

High and low temperatures

Here’s what some of those isolated showers could look like later this evening. The most likely scenario is a few pop-up showers develop during the late afternoon hours and slide through the Finger Lakes, largely missing the I-81 corridor.

The main weather system impacting this weekend is currently tracking through the western Great Lakes. The line of rain showers associated with this system will be arriving across western New York overnight into Saturday.

The light to moderate steady rain develops from west to east during the morning hours with most of central New York dealing with rain showers by noon.

Rain likely continues through sunset before gradually clearing skies overnight into Sunday. Below is a snapshot of the widespread rain at 4PM Saturday.

It’s been a rainy last two months in Syracuse as since March 1st, we’ve recorded 9.12″ of precipitation which is over 3″ above average! The heaviest rain Saturday will favor the Finger Lakes and southern hills with .5″ to 1″ possible through 10PM.

Saturday rainfall forecast

The rain exits quickly overnight Saturday with clearing skies Sunday and temperatures rebounding nicely to start next week!
