Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts has shared that she is resting up for her third trimester after she needed surgery at just 22 weeks to “help keep the baby in”

Nicola Roberts has said that she had to undergo surgery whilst 22 weeks pregnant in order to “keep the baby in”. The 40-year-old expectant mother shared the details of her pregnancy on social media as she took doctors’ advice to rest during her third trimester.
The Girls Aloud singer shared an update with fans on Tuesday (28 April), where she posted a series of pictures from her week, where her full baby bump was on show. In the caption, she said: “Some pics I took this week.. Hasn’t it been so nice to really feel spring..
“I’ve been under instruction not to do much since I had the surgery at 22 weeks to help keep baby in. Hitting that 34 week mark was a big relief. I now only have a few weeks left. Safe to say, this last bit is not the easiest is it?! In one breath, it will be nice to feel more comfortable again but I will also really miss my bump and having this tiny little thing in there.”

Back in January, the singer had to pull out of her West End show ahead of a small surgical procedure, but the reason for the operation was not shared. She was starring as Persephone in Hadestown.
Taking to social media, Nicola expressed: “I’m so sad and disappointed to have to share this news with you all. Today I have learnt that I have to undergo a small surgical procedure and have been informed by my doctor that as a result I will be unable to complete my final week of Hadestown shows. Everything is ok.”
She went on: “I am heartbroken I won’t get to share the stage with my incredible cast who I love dearly and perform for the passionate Hadestown audiences I’ve had the privilege to get to know over these last 5 months.
“I have adored playing the role of Persephone, it has been a dream come true and I’m so upset not to be able to fulfil my final week and to leave the show without a proper goodbye.

“I’m so sorry to anyone who had organised trips and booked tickets for my last week. This is completely out of my control and really I have to follow my doctor’s instructions. Sending love to everyone, thank you for your continued support and understanding.”
Nicola, who has been enjoying The Real Housewives whilst on bed rest, announced she was expecting her first child with fiance Mitch Hahn, 37, on Christmas Day. She shared the news on Instagram with a post that read: “Mitch and I have had the most magical Christmas Day sharing the most precious news with our families. We’ve been keeping a secret. We are five months pregnant! We can’t wait to meet our little one in the spring x”
Since then, she celebrated the impending arrival of her child with bandmate Kimberley Walsh at a Brigerton-themed baby shower at The Lanesborough. The soon-to-be mum was gifted some babygrows, and her guests, which included Laura Whitmore, got to decorate some more.
Laura showed off her own baby bump at the party. The 40 year old presenter is expecting her second child with comedian husband Iain Stirling. She announced the news in February.
