Train delays as Chiltern Railways line towards Oxford blocked

A train has broken down on the line between Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield, blocking all services towards Oxford and Banbury on Wednesday morning (April 29).

The route affected is between London Marylebone and Gerrards Cross, High Wycombe, Princes Risborough, Oxford, Banbury, Birmingham Moor Street and beyond.

Trains travelling between these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 40 minutes, the operator has said.

Disruption is expected to continue until 10.15am.

A Chiltern Railways statement said: “Following a broken down train between Gerrards Cross and Beaconsfield the line towards Oxford will be reopened shortly.

“We’re sorry for the delay to your journey. If you have been delayed by 15 minutes or more, then you are likely to be entitled to compensation.”

Several Oxford services have already been cancelled, including the 8.11am from London Marylebone, due at Oxford at 9.35am, and services from Oxford to the London station departing at 8.20am, 8.45am and 9.04am.

Tickets are being accepted at no extra cost on some services operated by Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, Carousel buses, the Elizabeth Line, Great Western Railway Services, London Underground and Stagecoach Buses.
