‘Survivor 50’: Who was eliminated, and why was Mr. Beast involved?

Here’s everything that went down on the latest episode of ‘Survivor 50,’ titled ‘A Side Dish of Chaos.’
Mr. Beast twist shakes up ‘Survivor 50’
Mr. Beast, for his part, said he’s a really big fan of the show, but he wasn’t there to just hang out.
YouTube superstar Mr. Beast made an appearance on Wednesday’s “Survivor,” but why? Doesn’t anyone remember what happened when Zac Brown showed up?
Here’s everything that happened on Wednesday’s episode of “Survivor 50.” Warning, spoilers ahead:
What was the fallout from Tribal Council?
After last week’s elimination of Christian Hubicki, Emily Flippen felt like a “pariah,” she said, cast out from the rest of the group. “I am, like, devastated,” she said. “This is a first for me, and I’m really not sure where this leaves me now.” She was trying to make up ground with Ozzy, and she wasn’t getting very far. “It is a sense of true, genuine, crushing loneliness right now,” she said. But Emily did find solace in Rick Devens, who was reeling from the loss of Hubicki, “the Spock to my Captain Kirk,” he said. He figured he and Emily could go rogue on everyone, saying they were “two psychopaths out here” and reasoning, “we’ve got literally nothing to lose.” With nothing to lose, Devens decided to tell the truth about his fake idol, a move which both shocked and scared Joe Hunter. “For me, in particular, I think Rick Devens is Public Enemy No. 1,” Joe said.
How much does a milkshake cost on ‘Survivor’ island?
$100, if it’s the “Survivor” auction, and you’re willing to pay a premium for milk and ice cream. At the Jeff Probst-hosted auction, the castaways paid big money for creature comforts — Emily paid $100 for a milkshake, Cirie paid $20 for toothpaste and mouthwash, Aubry paid $280 for a plate of chocolate chip cookies and a glass of milk — and some of the items came with punishments, such as having to eat sea slugs. But the biggest prize had everyone chipping in cash to read their letters from home. And that’s where Mr. Beast came in.
Mr. Beast? Seriously?
Yeah, seriously. Calling him the “single biggest Youtuber on planet Earth,” Jeff Probst was in full glaze mode on the internet star. “You are the biggest thing in the world,” Probst told him. “And for you to come and want to be a part of our little show is a really big deal.” Er, our little show? Mr. Beast, for his part, said he’s a really big fan of the show, but he wasn’t there to just hang out. He was there to introduce a twist into the game, the “Mr. Beast Super Beware Advantage,” the particulars of which would not be known until that night’s Tribal Council. And Tribal Council would follow the week’s challenge, which was up next.
Who won immunity?
After a balancing contest — players balanced a ball on a bow while they, themselves, balanced on a beam — Tiffany Ervin won, outlasting second place Ozzy. It was Tiffany’s second immunity win of the season, and it guaranteed her lasting past the 19 days she did the last time she played, which she toasted as a personal victory.
Who was targeted?
Ozzy could have used that immunity, because suddenly he was being eyed as a threat. Jonathan set about organizing a blindside against Ozzy, who has been playing a cerebral, calm, collected game. “We have an opportunity to make a massive move or a little move,” Jonathan told Joe, reasoning Devens would be the little move, and Ozzy would be the big one. Joe pitched the idea of voting out Ozzy to Cirie, who had no interest in eliminating her alliance member, so Cirie told Ozzy about the movements at play and suddenly Stephenie became the new target. And when Stephenie got wind of that plan, she flipped on Cirie, but then decided to rally people against… Rizo? Then Aubry’s name started getting tossed around, just because it hadn’t yet, and pure chaos was in the air. Life moves fast, “Survivor” moves faster.
So what is the ‘Mr. Beast Super Beware Advantage?’
Like the Billie Eilish Boomerang Idol, its name was mentioned in full every time it was brought up. But at Tribal Council, its full power was at last revealed: It was the power to scramble Probst’s brain. After an explosive back-and-forth between several tribe members, Probst called the gathering “the single most fascinating Tribal I’ve ever been witness to,” which he credited entirely to Mr. Beast. “The psychological arc, the impact of the mere presence of Mr. Beast changed everything about how all of you think,” Probst said, also citing “the fear of a known unknown” and “cognitive distortion, man.” Did Mr. Beast buy CBS? Why was Probst acting like this? Mr. Beast finally arrived at Tribal Council, briefcase in hand, and revealed what was actually inside: A gold coin, representing a heads or tails flip. One player, one flip: Call it correctly, win immunity, and the game’s prize money would be doubled from $1 million to $2 million. Call it wrong, the player goes home. Devens volunteered himself for the coin flip, and there was no one better for the job. He stepped up, took the coin, called heads, flipped the coin, and it landed on… heads! So he saved himself for at least another week while also adding $1 million to the game’s pot. Not bad for a day’s work.
So who was voted out?
After nearly everyone’s name had been teased as a potential victim — and Stephenie used her steal-a-vote power to take Devens’ vote and cast two votes — Steph was voted out, becoming the newest member of the now-$2 million jury.
