Emmerdale legend left ‘pinched and bruised’ as Lisa Riley scene descends into chaos

Emmerdale star Adele Silva has revealed she was often left “pinched and bruised” after filming scenes with Lisa Riley as she reflected on her time playing iconic soap character Kelly Windsor.

Former soap star Adele, who played Kelly across three major stints from 1993 to 2000, 2005 to 2007 and again in 2011, says her time on the soap was packed with dramatic storylines and unpredictable on set moments.

“There was so much stuff, but I always loved everything I did with Jimmy King,” she said in collaboration with WhichBingo, home of the best online casino sites. “We ended up with some wonderfully ridiculous storylines. I remember us being in a jacuzzi at one point, and him proposing to me but dropping the ring in the river.”

She added that the fast paced nature of Emmerdale often meant she was thrown into bizarre and over the top plots, but she embraced every minute of it.

“I think the writers used to give me and Nick all the storylines they knew no one else would do. We never complained. We just got on with it.”

However, it was her scenes with Lisa Riley that often caused the most chaos behind the camera.

“There’s always one with Lisa Riley,” Adele admitted. “We just cannot look at each other without something going wrong. There were many days on set where I’d have little bruise marks up my arm from pinching myself to stop laughing mid scene.”

Adele also reflected on returning to Emmerdale after time away, describing it as a mix of nostalgia and intensity as the soap evolved over the years.

“It always felt like going home,” she said. “But what you notice each time is how much the show has changed. If you were busy you could be filming sixteen or seventeen scenes a day and none of them in sequence.”

She praised soap actors for their ability to switch between extreme emotions at speed, saying the work is often underestimated.

“People can be quite snobby about it. But actually, when you’re on a film set filming one scene all day and you think about what soap actors do, it’s remarkable.”

Adele also revealed she would be open to a soap return in the future, even hinting at a dream move. “Absolutely, yes,” she said. “And if I’m honest, I’d love to do EastEnders.”

Looking back on her Kelly Windsor era, she says she has no regrets about her early fame. “I have absolutely no regrets. I was young, it was fun, and I’ve got nothing but good memories of it.”
