The Laval Rocket and Toronto Marlies head into Game 3 of their playoff series Sunday afternoon with the best-of series tied 1-1.
The teams split the first two games in Laval, trading wins in a series defined by momentum swings and special teams production.
Game 3 is set for Sunday at 4 p.m. ET at Coca-Cola Coliseum.
Rocket look to tighten discipline after Game 2 loss
The Rocket will look to tighten up defensively after a 6-2 loss in Game 2, where Laval surrendered four power-play goals and was assessed 48 penalty minutes. Toronto capitalized on 10 man-advantage opportunities to even the series.
Despite the setback, Laval opened Game 2 with a strong first period, building a 2-0 lead. Joshua Roy and Laurent Dauphin provided the early offence before penalties shifted momentum.
Roy has now scored in both games of the series, while Dauphin continues to be a key contributor offensively.
Goaltender Kaapo Kähkönen made 26 saves in the loss.
For Toronto, Easton Cowan led the way with a three-point performance that included a goal. Logan Shaw, Vinni Lettieri, Luke Haymes, Cédric Paré and Noah Chadwick also scored, while Artur Akhtyamov stopped 29 shots in his first start of the series.
Discipline a focus for Laval
Discipline proved costly for Laval in Game 2, with repeated penalties allowing Toronto to take control on special teams.
The Rocket were outscored 4-0 on the power play and will need to limit infractions to regain control of the series.
