Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams have perfect reaction to Jared McCain’s pull-up 3

The Oklahoma City Thunder continued their quest to defend their title as they hosted the Los Angeles Lakers at Paycom Center on Tuesday in Game 1 of their second-round series.

The Thunder made light work of the Phoenix Suns in the opening round, and they would like to do it again against the Lakers.

They can have fun while they are at it.

In the second quarter, Jared McCain hit a pull-up three-pointer against Deandre Ayton. It gave the Thunder a double-digit lead, 36-26, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams loved it, animatedly celebrating on the bench.

McCain has been a key contributor for Oklahoma City since being acquired in February from the Philadelphia 76ers. He provides instant offense off the bench and infuses the defending champions with energy, speed, and spunk.

He is among the Thunder’s plethora of shocktroopers, which also includes Cason Wallace, Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins, Alex Caruso, and Kenrich Williams.

McCain found himself as the odd man out on the 76ers despite showing potential in his rookie year. He was traded to the Thunder, with Philadelphia general manager Daryl Morey even infamously stating that they were “selling high.”

Now, McCain has a strong chance to win his first ring.

As of writing, the Thunder are leading the Lakers in the third quarter.

Gilgeous-Alexander has 14 points, two rebounds, and four assists, while Chet Holmgren has 20 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks.

Williams is out with a hamstring injury. He is considered week-to-week.

LeBron James had a hot start for the Lakers, scoring 10 points in just five minutes.
