UPDATE: Ontario’s emergency alert network will run a test this Thursday

A routine check of Canada’s public warning network will roll out across the province

A routine test of the Alert Ready emergency alerting system will now take place across Ontario on Thursday, May 7 at 1:55 p.m.

The test was originally scheduled to take place across the country on Wednesday, but Pelmorex has issued a correction noting that Ontario’s test has been delayed. No test will take place in Quebec.

During the test, an alert message will be broadcast through television, radio and compatible wireless devices.

This is only a test, and no action is required. The purpose is to ensure the system is working properly, and that residents are familiar with how emergency alerts are delivered.
