Is Prince George going to Oundle? The future heir’s education is still a mystery as ‘William and Catherine tour the boarding school’ ahead of his last term at Lambrook

The Wales children all currently attend Lambrook School, which educates pupils until the age of 13. As Prince George will turn 13 this summer, there has been widespread speculation over whether the future King might next enrol. Many have wondered whether he might follow in the footsteps of his father, Prince William, and his uncle, Prince Harry, and study at the prestigious Berkshire-based Eton College.

This visit to Oundle, therefore, confounds the general consensus that Prince George would be attending Marlborough. ‘While Eton would be the obvious choice because it is on their doorstep and where William went, they are leaning towards other schools. I’m hearing Marlborough is the front-runner,’ a source previously told Vanity Fair. Although the couple are rumoured to still be making their final decision, Marlborough ‘ticks all the boxes’.

Marlborough has an extensive list of illustrious alumni, including Princess Eugenie, the poets Siegfried Sassoon and John Betjeman, and comedian Jack Whitehall. Perhaps the most famous Old Marlburian, however, is the Princess of Wales herself. Catherine enrolled at the college – which also played host to her sister Pippa Middleton and her brother James Middleton – in 1996. The prospect of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis accompanying Prince George at school, just like their uncle and aunt accompanied Catherine, is said to be an appealing one.

‘I think if they can, they would love for all three children to be at school together, which puts Marlborough as the top choice,’ the source added.
