Disney has released yet another preview video the soon-to-open Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring the Muppets at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, this time confirming the return of two beloved audio-animatronic characters from MuppetVision 3-D.

In the video, as guests are pulling away in their limo to race to the Electric Mayhem concert, they are heckled by the famous pair who appear to be in a camper van.

First Look at Statler and Waldorf Returning from MuppetVision 3-D

The Statler and Waldorf audio animatronics probably look familiar to many guests as they were a major and beloved part of the MuppetVision 3-D attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios from 1991 until the show’s unfortunate closure in 2025.

One of the jokes previewed in the Instagram video even references a particular memorable joke from their former attraction. The couple quips the following:

“Do we have time to go to the bathroom before the next song?”

“We can’t you old fool, we’re bolted to the seats!”

Of course, the joke calls back to the final moments of the MuppetVision3-D show, where Waldorf asks if they have time to use the bathroom before the next show, before Statler breaks the fourth wall and makes light of the fact that they are permanently installed audio-animatronics figures.

The Statler and Waldorf characters have been a pop culture staple since their debut as part of The Muppet Show in 1975,  best known for their overly negative opinions and their tendency to heckle performers. Given their impact on the audience, the pair undoubtedly had to be a part of the first-ever Muppet theme park attraction when MuppetVision 3-D debuted at the then Disney-MGM Studios back in 1991. Their savage humor became an indelible part of Disney theme park history as part of the now-closed show, providing some of the most memorable and quoted lines in this history of the medium.

Earlier this week, Disney previewed the attraction’s pre-show, which features more recycled audio-animatronics from MuppetVision. The penguins who once made up the orchestra are now audio technicians, while an entirely new figure of Scooter has been created.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 26.
