This new list reveals that New Jersey has a new top female name for 2025.
Social Security began compiling the baby names list in 1997, with names dating back to 1880 and allows users to search name popularity by year and by state, according to the release. Each year, the list reveals the effect of pop-culture on naming trends.
It’s a return to the top for Emma!
For the girls Emma is new No. 1, besting Mia from last year. Liam continues to be the most popular name for the boys but for the females Emma regains her 2022 title. This was a close running as there were 428 new baby girls named Emma while only 427 new baby girls were named Mia.
