Alison Hammond has shared her secret behind her 11 stone weight loss. The 51-year-old has been a familiar face on our TV screens over the years since she launched her career on the third series of Big Brother back in 2002.
She has since become a regular presenter on This Morning, as well as appearing over on Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off and For the Love of Dogs, taking over from the late Paul O’Grady in April 2024.
Alison, who weighed 28 stone at her heaviest, has lost 11 stone in recent years. The TV star opened up her transformation in an interview with Women’s Heath. She spoke about changing her eating habits and increasing the amount of exercise she does day-to-day.
After receiving a prediabetic diagnosis, Alison knew she needed to make a change and she reached out to a personal trainer. As well as a focus on fitness, she also removed two key items from her diet.

In an interview with Women’s Health, she said: “My mum had Type 2 diabetes and she was worried for me, so when I then found out that I was pre-diabetic, that was frightening.
“I thought ‘I have to be an adult about this’. The sweets had to stop, and the fatty foods.”
She added: “Twice a week I see my personal trainer, and I have a couple of weights in my bedroom. I walk, I stretch, and sometimes I do a bit of yoga. I try to vary it so it’s not the same every day.
“After a session at the gym, I think I’m Venus Williams, with all those endorphins pumping around. If I miss a session or two with my trainer, I notice it. That kick you get out of the way you feel is so good.”
She told Women’s Health: “I’m no longer pre-diabetic, so I’m a bit naughtier with my food now. But because my body’s working properly, I can allow myself a bit of sugar here and there.

“I love my new shape and although I still have areas I’m conscious of, such as my arms and tummy, it’s great being able to wear things I would never have been able to before. I mean, look at me, I’m a bombshell!”
Alison often appears on TV alongside Dermot O’Leary on This Morning. She is also the face of Channel 4’s latest singing programme “Your Song”.
The series saw Alison visit Liverpool, when a pop-up stage was set up in Liverpool One last year.
Hundreds of amateur singers took to the stage with the hopes of impressing mentors Paloma Faith and Sam Ryder. But ultimately, it was Liverpool-born Chantel who took home the title at the end of the series, and Alison was quick to praise the talent that has come out of the city.
