French Open 2026 live updates: Day 1 latest with Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz and Mirra Andreeva in action today

Court Philippe-Chatrier doesn’t get under way until 12 p.m. in Paris (6 a.m. ET, 3 a.m. PT), but there are plenty of matches starting an hour earlier — which is in just a few minutes!
The most interesting opener might be Marta Kostyuk (15) vs. Oleksana Selekhmeteva. Kostyuk enters the French Open in the best form of her career, having won the Madrid Open — a prestigious clay-court tournament played in slightly faster conditions than Roland Garros — at the start of May.
Kostyuk is also Ukrainian, and Selekhmeteva just this week announced a switch in nationality from Russia to Spain. Ukrainian players on the WTA Tour regularly meet Russians in matches, and they have not shaken hands at the end of them since 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine.
Fans can look forward to another low-key banger on Court 9, which sees Lilli Tagger, the highly rated Austrian who won the girls’ singles title last year, take on Wang Xinyu (32). Tagger is best-known for her picturebook one-handed backhand, but it’s her serve and forehand that make her a genuine threat to opponents.
