Donald Trump Targets ‘Dumocrats’ In Memorial Day Message

President Donald Trump has branded Democrats as “Dumocrats” in his Memorial Day message, as millions of Americans prepare to honor those who served and died in the U.S. military.
Writing on Truth Social, Trump said: “Happy Memorial Day to all, including the Dumocrats, who disrespect our Military and all of the tremendous success that it has had over the last year. God Bless those that have made the ultimate sacrifice. I love you all! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
In a follow-up post, he wrote: “The Dumocrats have BAD POLICY, AND BAD CANDIDATES. Other than that, they are doing quite well! President DJT”
The comments continue President Trump’s long-standing use of holiday messages on social media to make partisan attacks, a pattern that has previously drawn criticism for politicizing Memorial Day commemorations. Memorial Day in the United States is intended as an apolitical federal day of remembrance for all military personnel who have died in service, and presidential messages typically also include tributes to the fallen and their families alongside wider national reflection.
As reported by Newsweek, on Memorial Day last year, Trump bashed federal judges as “monsters” who want the United States “to go to hell” in an all-caps Memorial Day message published on Truth Social. Trump wished a “happy Memorial Day to all,” including the “scum that spent the last four years trying to destroy our country through warped radical Left minds, who allowed 21,000,000 people to illegally enter our country, many of them being criminals and the mentally insane, through an open border.”
Following today’s post, attention is also turning to how he will mark the holiday beyond social media, including any public appearances or campaign-related activity during the day.
How Is Trump Spending Memorial Day
President Donald Trump is set to mark Memorial Day by honoring fallen American service members at Arlington National Cemetery, as reported by the Daily Wire.
According to a White House official, the president will be joined on Monday by members of his administration, alongside Gold Star families and military personnel, for commemorations at the historic site. His schedule includes a visit to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, followed by remarks delivered nearby.
Senior administration figures are expected to attend the ceremony, including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine.
The president’s visit is intended as a formal tribute to those who died in service to the United States. Last year, Trump also took part in Memorial Day observances at Arlington, including a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier alongside senior administration officials. Speaking at the time, he paid tribute to fallen service members, describing them as having given their lives so others might live in safety and freedom.
The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, located at the highest point of Arlington National Cemetery overlooking Washington, D.C., is a national monument dedicated to unidentified service members who died in war. The wider cemetery is the resting place for more than 430,000 military personnel, veterans, and eligible family members, and occupies land with origins dating back to the estate of George Washington’s family before it was seized during the Civil War era.
Trump gave a vague explanation on Friday for why he would not attend his son Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding over memorial weekend, as questions swirl amid rising international tensions, as reported by Politico.
The president confirmed he would be absent from the ceremony, where his son married Palm Beach socialite Bettina Anderson, saying only that “circumstances pertaining to Government” would prevent his attendance, and that “I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C, at the White House during this important period of time” but without offering further detail.
