Latest Jet2 rules for anyone visiting Spain, Greece, France, Turkey or Portugal

Thousands of holidaymakers use Jet2 to travel abroad every year. Like many travel providers, Jet2 is preparing for the summer season, as many families head out on a much-needed holiday to popular destinations such as Spain, France, Greece, Portugal and Turkey.

Airline companies will regularly update their rules and regulations for each nation it flies to, making sure holidaymakers have the most up-to-date information. The Jet2 website states: “Before travelling to your destination, please check the latest entry requirements as they may differ depending on your destination, nationality, and your travel document type.

“If you are travelling to this destination and you do not hold a full ‘British Citizen’ or EU passport, it’s very likely there will be different entry requirements.

“We recommend that all travellers check the latest requirements before travelling, which can be found on the FCDO website.”

On October 12, 2025, the European Union introduced a new Entry/Exit System. This applies to British nationals travelling to countries within the Schengen area and further information can be accessed via the GOV.UK website.

This includes Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Jet2 states: “This means when you travel, you may go through a digital check on arrival and departure. There’s no cost and nothing you can do before you travel.

“There may be longer wait times than usual when you arrive in destination and before your flight back to the UK. We’re really sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but unfortunately this is completely outside of our control.”

Below is the latest travel requirements for France, Greece Portugal, Spain and Turkey.

For France and Greece and the Jet2 website states: “Without a visa, entry is permitted for a maximum stay of 90 days in a 180-day period.”

For travel to mainland Portugal, the Jet2 website states: “Without a visa, entry is permitted for a maximum stay of 90 days in a 180-day period.

“Young people under the age of 18 need a letter of authorisation with them when leaving or entering Portugal, including Madeira, without their parent or legal guardian.

“This letter must be signed by the parent or legal guardian and, in some circumstances, may need to be legally certified. You can download the form here and you’ll be asked to show your completed form at the airport. For more information, please visit the Portuguese government website.”

Like France and Greece, holidaymakers heading to Spain are not subject to any additional Foreign Office guidance or requirements, at the time of publication. The Jet2 website states: “Without a visa, entry is permitted for a maximum stay of 90 days in a 180-day period.”

This is the same for travellers going to the Balearic Islands and Canary Islands.

For holidaymakers heading to Turkey, the Jet2 website states: “Without a visa, entry is permitted for a maximum stay of 90 days in a 180-day period, and your passport must be valid for a minimum of 150 days from when you arrive.

“You might have heard that the European Union introduced a new Entry/Exit System from 12 October 2025. Just to confirm, this won’t be implemented in Turkey.”
