‘Don’t f**king push’: Star loses it at fans

Russell Crowe’s patience had clearly worn thin as he confronted a crowd of eager fans outside his French hotel this week.
In a clip circulating online, the Gladiator star, 62, emerges from the building hot and sweaty and approaches the group with a stern warning before agreeing to sign autographs.
“Are you listening?” he begins, peering through his rose-coloured aviator sunnies before the crowd falls silent giving him their full attention.
“Stay where you are. Don’t f**king push in on me and I’ll come to you.”
He continues with a further warning: if things get out of hand, they’ve lost him.
“Give everybody space and as soon as somebody’s a d*ck, I’m going. You got me? Clear?”
When a clip of the moment was shared on X, fans leapt to the star’s defence, insisting that the warning was justified.
“I don’t see why this is a problem. He isn’t yelling, he’s just calmly setting a boundary and then proceeds to sign autographs,” one person defended the star in the comments.
“He’s not being an asshole about it, he’s being firm. He’s still willing to sign the autographs, he just doesn’t want to be mobbed,” another agreed.
And another defended the star with: “After you sign so many autographs, you get pissed off.”
Meanwhile, some claimed that the group wasn’t full of true fans at all, but rather opportunistic resellers who pop up at celebrity sightings hoping to cash in on signed memorabilia.
“I don’t blame him. Those people are vultures with no regard for anyone but themselves.
Good for him! BOUNDARIES,” someone said.
“Justifiable – these people are hustlers who get these autographs for free and then remarket them online for hundreds of dollars or even thousands,” another agreed.
And someone who claimed they worked in the industry backed up the theory: “I work on red carpet events to shoot photos at premieres and you can always tell when these collectors and resellers show up because they have posters and copies of memorabilia for the actress to sign. Those guys are actual vultures. True fans usually want selfies with the celebrities.”
Plenty would argue that Russell was being rather generous with his time, even as a fan cheekily requested for the star to sign “Maximus” (his character’s name in Gladiator) instead of his real name.
“What’s that?” he questioned. “No” he replied, before walking off.
There are a handful of A-listers who refuse to sign autographs for this exact reason.
Singer Billie Eilish famously opts for selfies with fans over signatures.
“It’s something that I don’t do because I used to, but I realised all anyone did was sell everything that I signed, so I stopped doing that. It was kind of like a policy of mine that I don’t,” she explained on Instagram back in 2019.
American actor and comedian Bill Hader is also against it and Anne Hathaway is also known to refuse autographs if a crowd gets too rowdy or refers to her as the name of one of her characters.
Days prior to the incident, Russell was spotted enjoying a day out watching the French Open with his girlfriend Britney Theriot.
The two appeared truly relaxed as they packed on the PDA on day one of the tournament, even co-ordinating their dapper looks.
At one point, the star managed to catch a rogue ball that was hit into the crowd during the match between Alexander Zverev and Benjamin Bonzi.
He proudly beamed, posing for photos with his catch, earning a huge applause from spectators.
