Glasgow Airport has been forced to close until at least 6pm
A major UK airport has been forced to shut with immediate effect after a “landing incident” on Tuesday afternoon.
Glasgow Airport is closed until 6pm after an aircraft blocked the runway following a landing incident, reports AirNavRadar. Flights to and from the airport are currently being affected as authorities work to clear the runway and resume normal operations.
One person claiming to be a witness on X said: “Glasgow Airport runway temporarily closed. Small aircraft appeared to dip its wing on the runway and stop. Fire appliances in attendance & flights being turned back to the terminal.”
Some passengers online say their flights are now being diverted. FlightRadar, and air traffic website, says planes due to land at Glasgow shortly after 3pm were diverted to Edinburgh.
