Droitwich Rik Mayall Festival opens for nine days

The second Rik Mayall Comedy Festival will see a string of comedians entertain crowds from Friday in the late comic performer’s home town.
For nine days, Droitwich Spa will celebrate Mayall’s life and legacy, with the festival centred around Norbury Theatre.
The venue is where he first performed as a youngster but more than 300 events will be spread across pubs, cafés, streets and venues in the Worcestershire town, with comedy, screenings, music, exhibitions, workshops and fringe performances planned.
This year’s festival runs 29 May to 6 June and features some big names, including Mayall’s The Young Ones collaborators Alexei Sayle and Nigel Planer, along with Harriet Kemsley and Richard Herring.
