NBC announced the cast for the eight season of “Love Island USA” on May 28, and mid-valley residents may recognize one of the singles shouting “we got a text!” this summer.
Vanity Square Studios owner Vasana Montgomery was introduced as one of the 12 initial bombshells for the reality dating show’s June 2 season premiere. Montgomery’s listed hometown is Beaverton.
The show airs almost daily, and is filmed in real-time, according to a post on the Peacock blog.
Viewers also help chart the course of the season by casting votes at key intervals that either complement a couple’s connection or force them apart.

Who is Vasana Montgomery?
Montgomery owns Vanity Square Studios in Salem, a salon that specializes in tattoos, lashes and brows, according to its site. She has had the business for nearly six years, according to Montgomery’s Facebook page.

She describes herself as “just a girl with a lash wand, big dreams, and a to-do list that never ends.”
How does ‘Love Island’ work?
Twelve singles enter, two walk out with $100,000 in cash.
In order to claim the prize, the winning pair will have to couple up and win over the rest of the bombshells remaining at the end of the season. It’s up to the individual islanders to forge connections with potential partners and establish a relationship.
Viewers weigh in at key points during the competition and vote to either pair up two of the islanders or force apart an existing couple. The cast must also vote individual members out, which typically results in one or more new bombshells arriving at the villa.
The show also includes several physical challenges, but this is a family newspaper, so we will not go into specifics.
The cast members left at the end of the season finale vote to decide which couple gets the prize. “Love Island USA” is filmed in Fiji and is hosted by reality star Ariana Madix.
How do I watch ‘Love Island’?
The show airs exclusively on Peacock and drops daily episodes during its first week. Then, it will air Thursdays through Tuesdays.
Episodes drop at 6 p.m. local time. The season premieres on Tuesday, June 2.
