Love Island USA removes Beaverton contestant before season premiere over alleged slur use

A 25-year-old hair salon owner from Beaverton, Oregon who was cast in season 8 of Love Island USA has been removed from the show after social media videos surfaced of her using a racial slur.

Vasana Montgomery, who owns Vanity Square Studios in Salem, was originally announced as one of the initial ‘islanders’ on the Peacock reality dating show, but was removed from the villa before the first episode even premiered.

Two videos of Montgomery surfaced online in which she appeared to be using the n-word, according to NBC News. In one video, she was singing a song that featured the word, and in the other, she was yelling at an arcade game.

According to Peacock, the videos weren’t publicly shared until after Montgomery was announced as part of the cast.
