Trump Replaces Freedom 250 Concerts With Himself

Can you really cancel a concert with (practically) no performers? If you’re the president of the United States and specifically Donald Trump, the answer is “yes.” Despite the fact that a number of the Freedom 250 singers have dropped out of their own accord, Trump hit back with a signature “You’re fired” and plans to replace all of them with a giant rally to celebrate himself. “We don’t want singers with no talent, but big fees to put you to sleep — we’ve told them all to stay home,” the president wrote on Truth Social, which is unfortunate for Vanilla Ice and Flo Rida, who were still booked until Trump pulled the rug out from under them. Now the president plans to put on “a Rally to end all Rallies.” It’s always interesting when his approach to capitalizing nouns takes on a, uh, Germanic form.
That’s not to say that the Freedom 250 celebration will be an entirely music-free event. Trump promised Lee Greenwood will sing “God Bless the U.S.A.” and Christopher Macchio will perform Trump favorite “Nessun Dorma” from Giacomo Puccini’s opera Turandot (which, coincidentally enough, has been playing at the Met Opera this past season, though I didn’t see Trump there when I went). Trump also promised performances from the U.S. Army Band with the Armed Forces Choir and the Marine Band with the Joint Armed Forces Chorus. That all pales in comparison to Trump, of course, who referred to himself as “a fine and highly dignified gentleman.” All in all, sounds like the exact kind of event that everyone had in mind, including the people who won’t be going anymore. Will Vanilla Ice and Flo Rida at least get a set of comps? It’s the least the president could do after upending the lineup.
