PWHL Hamilton signs Brianne Jenner as franchise’s first player

Steeltown officially has its first player.
PHWL Hamilton signed forward Brianne Jenner to a three-year standard player agreement, the expansion franchise announced on Friday.
The deal marks PWHL Hamilton’s first-ever player signing ahead of the team’s inaugural 2026-27 season. Jenner’s contract runs through the 2028-29 campaign and makes her the first of five players to be added during Phase 2 of the PWHL’s expansion roster distribution process, which began Friday and runs until 1 p.m. ET on Monday.
Jenner, 35, spent the last three seasons as a foundational member of the Ottawa Charge, serving as captain. She’s the franchise’s all-time leading scorer with 61 points, which also ranks eighth in PWHL history. She’s racked up 28 goals (seventh all-time) through 82 games, highlighted by a 2025-26 season when she finished fourth in scoring with 12 goals and 14 assists in 40 games. Jenner’s efforts earned her a Forward of the Year nomination and helped the Charge reach the Walter Cup Final for the very first time.
The Oakville, Ont., native also boasts a decorated international resume, with two Olympic gold medals (2014, 2022) and a pair of silvers (2018, 2026). She’s also compiled four gold, six silver and one bronze medal in 11 world championship appearances.
Phase 2 of roster distribution allows each expansion team to build the foundation of its roster by acquiring five players through signings and, if necessary, a player selection process. Only players identified on an expansion team’s initial 20-player exclusive negotiation target list are eligible to be signed during Phase 2. Existing teams can lose a maximum of three players who are under contract for the 2026-27 season during this phase.
After that, the focus will turn to the PWHL draft on June 17.
