Connecticut air quality moderate before storm risk tonight
Connecticut residents can expect moderate air quality across the state on Saturday, according to the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
Air quality is forecast to range from yellow to orange on the color-coded Air Quality Index, with levels between 51 and 100 on the EPA’s 500-point scale, according to AirNow.gov.
People who are unusually sensitive to ozone should consider reducing their activity level or limiting the amount of time they spend outdoors. Symptoms such as coughing or shortness of breath may indicate the need to take it easier, AirNow.gov said.
For most people, however, outdoor activities remain safe.
Saturday’s weather will feature increasing clouds and a high near 89 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. A light south wind will become southwest at 9 to 14 mph during the morning.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely Saturday evening, mainly before 11 p.m. Some storms could become severe. Skies will remain mostly cloudy before gradually clearing toward daybreak. Overnight temperatures will fall to around 66 degrees.
