Herb Dean is the third man in the cage for this title fight. Gane and Pereira meet in the center of the cage and touch gloves.
Pereira with a head kick but that lands on Gane’s guard. Gane with a leg kick. Pereira lands a jab to the body, and again with the head kick. They trade leg kicks now and fans chant “Chama! Chama!” Gane connects with the jab. Pereira doubles up on the calf kicks, and Gane answers with another one. Gane with another solid jab. And again. Gane with a takedown attempt but gives up midway through. Gane with a front kick that lands, and more leg kicks. Gane is landing at will now. He’s too fast now. Pereira eating jabs over and over. Gane with an overhand right, and a jab. A minute left in the first, and Pereira misses another head kick. Gane with another takedown threat. They trade head kicks, and Pereira misses his second one. Round comes to an end. MMA Fighting scores the round 10-9, Gane.
Glover Teixeira asks Pereira to watch for the jab, and Plinio Cruz asks him to circle more to the left. Teixeira asks him to stay active with the feints.
Gane with an inside leg kick, and Pereira responds with a head kick. GANE HURTS PEREIRA WITH A RIGHT HAND! WOW! Pereira is back to his feet but he’s almost out! Gane rushes forward but Pereira is still dangerous with his heavy hands. Gane is all over Pereira now! HE`S DONE IT! GANE STOPPED POATAN!
